Three spots to admire the warm colors of autumn in the Rhone Valley vineyards

When autumn arrives in the Rhône Valley, the vineyards are dressed in their finest golden colors. The vines in autumn create a living landscape, offering us a different spectacle as the hours and light change. It's the perfect time to plan a stroll through the vineyards, whether for a weekend of epicurean delights or a simple contemplative break. Ready to feast your eyes? Then let's hit the road to see the most beautiful wine-growing panoramas this autumn !

Spot #1: Gigondas and the flamboyant spectacle of the Dentelles de Montmirail

Here, everything seems tailor-made for beauty. In Gigondas, the Dentelles de Montmirail raise their limestone peaks above a sea of vineyards. In autumn, the foliage turns shades of ochre, gold, and orange, contrasting with the whiteness of the rocks and the blue of the Provençal sky. Climb gently from the village, stop at the edge of the path, and you'll understand why wine lovers linger here so much.

For the more adventurous, the Col du Cayron trail offers incredible views of the surrounding hillsides and villages such as Sablet, Séguret and Vacqueyras. In the morning, the low light caresses the rows of vines, while in the late afternoon, the whole landscape is ablaze. Why not extend your walk to a wine cellar to taste the best that the Dentelles de Montmirail terroir has to offer?

Good to know: for photography enthusiasts, the end of the day offers the most beautiful colors.

Spot #2: Côte-Rôtie and its spectacular terraces along the Rhône

In Ampuis, the vines cling to the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie. Here, we find ourselves facing a landscape sculpted by human hands, where each row seems to hang above the Rhône. In autumn, it's a true impressionist painting: shades of amber, rust, and copper intermingle on the vineyard terraces.

You can take the vineyard path that winds between the dry stone walls. At every turn, a new view opens up between the river and the hills. Lovers of exceptional wine-growing landscapes will enjoy it as much as hikers. And if you listen carefully, you can even hear the murmur of the Rhône below.

What we love: the spectacular view from the Tupin-et-Semons viewpoint, next to Ampuis, perfect for admiring the sunset.

Spot #3: Chavanay and its golden break from the Madone d'Izeras

Between Condrieu and Chavanay, the Madone d'Izeras proudly dominates the hillsides. From here, the view stretches over the vineyards of Saint-Joseph and Condrieu, the Rhône River, and the villages nestled along the water's edge. The warm tones of the vines and the soft light of autumn give the landscape an almost golden glow.

We then climb gently up to the statue of the Madonna, along a path lined with vines. Up there, the panorama is breathtaking: the hills roll on and on, the reflections of the Rhône dance, and you feel the tranquility that is unique to autumn walks in the heart of the vineyards. It's the kind of place where time seems to stand still.

The little extra: back in Condrieu, take the opportunity to stop at a wine cellar to enjoy a glass of Viognier while admiring the view.

Between Gigondas, Ampuis, and Chavanay, autumn transforms the vineyards of the Rhône Valley into a veritable open-air color chart. People come here for the light, the wine-growing landscapes, the wines, and the peaceful atmosphere that precedes winter. So, put on your sneakers, grab your camera, and let yourself be carried away by the charm of the autumn season. And if you feel like it, extend your walk with a tasting: in the Rhône Valley, the most beautiful panoramas can also be savored directly through wine.
