Rhône Valley Vineyards: 4 stops for a unique Mother’s Day Celebration

Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to treat your mom to a moment of togetherness and relaxation. Why not think outside the box this year and treat her to a getaway in the heart of the Rhône Valley vineyards? From wine tastings to unique walks and gourmet picnics, the region’s wineries are brimming with ideas to make the day special. We’ll take you on a journey to discover four experiences to enjoy with your mom—or as a family—to celebrate this day in style.

1. Taste fine wines at the Caveau du Château in Ampuis

Just thirty minutes from Lyon, the Caveau du Château welcomes visitors for an immersive experience in the world of Rhône Valley wines. Here, it’s not just about tasting: it’s about discovering, sharing, and marveling. The Guigal family, deeply connected to their terroir, offers a tasting of fifteen appellations, ranging from Condrieu AOC whites to Côte-Rôtie AOC reds, including natural sweet wines.

You’ll settle into a warm, welcoming setting, surrounded by ancient stonework and prestigious bottles. It’s also an opportunity to visit this iconic site and take in the breathtaking views.

The little extra: a guided tasting to learn more about the grape varieties and the stories behind each bottle.

2. Picnic in the vineyards at Domaine de l’Aqueduc

At Domaine de l’Aqueduc, simplicity and authenticity are the order of the day. After a tour of the cellars, head out to the vineyards for a 100% local picnic. A basket filled with quality products, a bottle of wine of your choice (or fruit juice for the kids), a tablecloth, and cutlery provided… All that’s left to do is lie back under the olive trees and enjoy the moment.

A hassle-free idea, where everything is taken care of so you can have a pleasant time, feet in the grass and a glass in hand.

3. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride at Domaine de Montine in Grignan

How about taking a trip back in time with a carriage ride? At Domaine de Montine, Steve and his horses will take you on a carriage ride through the vineyards, lavender fields, and truffle groves. A gentle, poetic moment where you can take the time to admire the scenery and breathe in the Southern air.

Back at the estate, it’s time for a tasting: a range of vibrant wines, reflecting the family history behind them. A unique and relaxing activity, perfect for a Mother’s Day celebration with a twist.

What we love: the blend of tradition and modernity, with wines that know how to surprise.

4. Enjoy a delicious family meal at Domaine de Fontenille

On Sunday, May 31st, 2026, Domaine de Fontenille is pulling out all the stops for Mother’s Day. On the menu: an exceptional meal, crafted by the estate’s chef using seasonal ingredients and Provençal-inspired flavors. The warmth of the South and the art of living come together for a gourmet and convivial experience.

The bonus: an idyllic setting, nestled among vineyards and nature, for a family meal that will delight young and old alike.

Between tastings, walks, and gourmet meals, the vineyards of the Rhône Valley offer wonderful opportunities to celebrate Mother’s Day in a unique way. So, are you tempted by one of these experiences? One thing is certain: Mom will be delighted!
