Winery-style aperitifs: savoring the taste of summer

When the days stretch out, it is hard to resist the allure of a winery-style aperitif. Whether in Pont-Saint-Esprit—at the heart of the Museum of Sacred Art—or in Tavel, these gatherings showcase a simple yet effective formula: wine tasting and conversation with winemakers, accompanied by a generous sharing platter. These events offer a chance to discover both local wines and iconic regional landmarks.

Every Tuesday from August 4 to 18, the experience appeals to wine enthusiasts and curious visitors alike, all seeking an authentic taste of the region. Guests hear stories from the estates before local flavors take center stage with a selection of tasty bites. It is a simple, welcoming way to experience the spirit of the Gard’s Côtes du Rhône wines.

An added bonus: these aperitifs serve as a wonderful introduction to the area’s wine-growing villages, all while enjoying a lovely summer evening.

At Domaine Tour Paradis, also comes to life on the plate

In Aiguèze—ranked among the most beautiful villages in France—Domaine Tour Paradis offers a gourmet experience that begins in the wine cellars and concludes with a tasting session. Guided by the owners, visitors discover the estate’s history, the work involved in tending the vines, and the secrets behind crafting the wines, before moving on to the most delicious part: the guided tasting.

Here, the wines are paired with local cured meats and cheeses—a combination that allows you to fully appreciate the unique characteristics of each vintage. It is an experience that is both educational and welcoming, perfect for understanding how the Gard terroir expresses itself—both in the glass and in the surrounding local produce.

What we love: the setting of Aiguèze and the emphasis placed on local producers throughout this gourmet experience.

Le Bistro de Montcaud: A "bistronomic" interlude with the flavors of the South

To extend the culinary experience, head to Sabran and Le Bistro de Montcaud. This establishment champions the "art of Southern living," inviting guests to enjoy traditional French cuisine reimagined with a modern "bistronomic" flair.

The terrace—especially delightful in fine weather—provides the perfect setting for leisurely lunches that we love to see stretch on. Here, seasonal and market-fresh ingredients inspire honest cooking that highlights the flavors of the Gard region. AOC Côtes du Rhône wines naturally take their place at the table, offering pairings that further enrich the discovery of the local area.

Good to know: the establishment features a spacious terrace and fits perfectly into a wine and food tour of the Gard’s Côtes du Rhône region.
