Le Verre des Costières: the new stopover for wine lovers in Nîmes

Just cross the Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle, opposite Nîmes' famous arena, and you'll come across a shop window like no other: Le Verre des Costières. This brand-new space dedicated to the wines of the Costières de Nîmes appellation opened its doors on June 17, 2025. It's a warm, contemporary place that has everything to please those who like to combine wine discovery, curiosity and Nîmes-style art de vivre.

Here, you can taste, talk, learn and find your way around. In short, it's a great way to get started before exploring the vineyards, or simply to extend the moment by sitting out on the terrace, facing the mythical arena.

An urban tasting area dedicated to local wines

Le Verre des Costières is the only address where you can taste 16 different cuvées each month, selected from the finest expressions of the Costières de Nîmes and Clairette de Bellegarde AOCs. The menu is renewed regularly, in line with the seasons and the inspiration of the appellation's winemakers.

The great thing is that you can :
-    Take your time to enjoy a mineral white or a sunny red from €4 a glass;
-    Choose from a smart selection of “Plaisirs”, ‘Découvertes’ or “Prestiges” wines to suit your tastes;
-     Take your bottle home with you (at the cellar price) or stay and pay a fixed corkage fee of €10.

And for the gourmets among us, an attractive menu of local products including cheeses, charcuterie and spreads (including brandade!) completes the experience. Far from clichés, here you can enjoy food in your own way, in an atmosphere that's all about meeting new people.

What we like: the relaxed and lively menu, which highlights the diversity of the terroirs while remaining accessible.

A place to learn, share... and dance!

Le Verre des Costières is also a place where you can learn the art of wine tasting or deepen your knowledge in educational workshops. You can learn to recognize a grape variety, understand a terroir, match a wine to a dish... All in a simple, sensory way, guided by a professional.

But that's not all! The venue also has a real cultural and festive vocation:
-    Musical evenings, including the famous Costières Sonores, which set the pace for the region's summer;
-    Meetings with producers;
-    Events focusing on the local art of living.

Here, wine tourism is an experience in its own right: friendly, open and warm.

Good to know: events are announced on social networks and the official appellation website. Just a quick look and you're all set!

A concierge service to promote the entire vineyard

Le Verre des Costières also acts as a wine tourism concierge service. Would you like to visit an estate that also produces olive oil? Enjoy a picnic in the vineyards? Or take part in an open-air wine festival? There's always someone on hand to help us organize our getaway and point us in the right direction.

It's the perfect starting point for exploring the 60 wine estates and 9 cooperative wineries in the appellation, which stretches between Nîmes and the Camargue. And if you've only got a little time to spare, it's also the perfect place to discover the best of Costières de Nîmes over the course of an evening.

The little extra: a golden location, just a stone's throw from the Arènes, ideal for combining Roman and wine culture!

So, if you're visiting Nîmes in the next few weeks, you'll be more than happy to push open the doors of Le Verre des Costières. We're even betting that you might stay longer than expected...

Practical info: Visit Verre des Costières from Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 11pm, at 7 Esplanade Charles du Gaulles, Nîmes.
