When the vineyard makes its cinema

In summer, open-air cinemas bloom like meadows in summertime. Watching a film under the stars has a special flavour that makes for an unforgettable experience. The vineyards of the Rhône Valley are also dotted with open-air cinemas, combining cinema and wine discovery. Here are 3 spots that are playing the seventh art game this summer!

Domaine de Panéry: Under the stars

Throughout the summer, from July 9 to August 27, this estate in the Pays d'Uzès region is organizing a series of concerts and open-air cinema screenings. The program includes the famous musical film “Dirty Dancing” on July 16th to open the season, and the dramatic comedy “Cinema Paradiso” on August 13th. The screening becomes a moment out of time and out of the world, in the setting of vineyards and olive groves that surround this former farmhouse in the commune of Pouzilhac. The session is accompanied by a meal featuring products from the estate (wines, oils) and southern flavors. The perfect combination of food, wine and painting for a single price of €45 per person. Don't forget to book!

Mas des Infermières: Movie Nights

In the charming village of Oppède, in the heart of the Luberon, Ridley Scott takes us on a journey through his cult films this summer, as the sun sets over the vines. The Mas des Infermières, owned by the famous director, welcomes us from 8 p.m. onwards to enjoy a tasty packed dinner with a bottle of wine to share, before settling in for the film. On Friday, July 18th, we dive into the famous “House of Gucci”. On August 1st, “Gladiator” comes back to life in the vineyards. On August 8th, we follow “Le Dernier Duel”, before escaping on August 22nd with “Seul sur Mars”. On August 29th, it's time for “Mensonges d'État” (Lies of State), before we round off these cinema evenings in style on September 5th with “La Chute du Faucon Noir” (The Fall of the Black Hawk). For €60 per adult and €30 per child, treat yourself to an evening where wine meets cinema, and leave with an extraordinary souvenir. Reservations required!

Tain-l’Hermitage: Open air cinema

We're off to the north of the Rhône Valley, this time to the Madeleine Raisin esplanade in Tain-l'Hermitage for an evening of cinema under the stars, surrounded by the famous AOC Hermitage vineyards. On Thursday, July 24th, you'll be treated to the famous recent comedy “Un p'tit truc en plus”, and on August 21st, you'll be treated to “Kung Fu Panda 4” for a dose of family fun. Before the evening begins, we'll take the opportunity to stroll through the narrow streets of Tain-l'Hermitage, sample a few delicacies at the Cité du Chocolat Valrhona and sit back and watch the sun set over the famous Hermitage hill. Admission to the event is free, and you can bring your own picnic to make the most of this summery evening.
