Spectacular nature and viticulture, linked for millennia

The oldest evidence of this long winemaking history comes from excavations at Alba—an important Roman capital that played a major role in the establishment of local vineyards. Traces of numerous wine cellars and presses found in nearly all the villae (Roman estates) identified around Alba bear witness to this ancient past.

In Southern Ardèche, nature has truly excelled, shaping this magnificent landscape over the course of millennia. It is a setting defined by limestone and sculpted by water—a backdrop that hosts the vineyards of Ardèche, providing them with a rich diversity of terroirs.
